What is Apple Pay, and why should I use it?

Apple pay technology is an contactless payment feature on your iPhone and Apple Watch that can be used to make payments directly from your iPhone when shopping at a participating retail location. Apple Pay also allows you purchase and make payments online via the Safari browser on your Mac when your iPhone is nearby.

Apple Pay seeks to make your life easier. Rather than dig through your wallet to find a credit or debit card, you can simply hold up your iPhone to the card reader and your payment will be processed (charged to the card of your choosing).

How secure is Apple Pay? If I lose my phone, will my card be at risk?

Apple Pay is incredibly secure because it uses the Touch ID function of your iPhone to verify your identity. Touch ID is a very secure security method because it uses your unique fingerprint in order for you to open your phone or make purchases.

Interestingly, Apple Pay is actually more secure than using your credit card because rather than transmitting your credit card information, Apple Pay sends a single-use transaction code that cannot be used for any other purchase.

In addition, if your phone is lost or stolen, your credit card information cannot be accessed without your fingerprint.
